As your Bruin family begins thinking about tuition for the winter and spring quarters, financial aid options and strategic financial planning, we know there is so much to consider and keep in order. Take a look at some of the resources, reminders and important dates available to you and your student to help make the process a little easier.

Financial Aid Applications

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines the amount of federal and state-based financial aid for which a student is eligible. The application for the 2018-19 school year is now available and must be completed by March 2 to meet the UCLA priority deadline.

If your student is a DACA recipient, they must complete the DREAM Act application by the March 2 deadline to be considered for eligibility.


Access Your 1098-T Tax Form

Tax season is upon us! Don’t forget to retrieve your 1098-T tax form. This form is sent to any student who paid qualified education expenses in the preceding tax year.

Qualified expenses include tuition, any fees that are required for enrollment, and course materials a student was required to buy from the school.

UCLA Financial Wellness Program

The UCLA Financial Wellness Program (FWP) aims to empower all Bruins to confidently navigate their finances in a way that supports their overall well-being. This program fosters financial literacy skills and advocates for student economic support services on campus. The program’s resources include:

1-on-1 Financial Coaching: Discuss and implement personal tools for navigating economic well-being.

Campus Resource Guide: The FWP Resoruce Guide connects students to financial resources on campus and in the surrounding community.

Personal Tools: FWP offers a number of resources for budgeting, financial aid planning, credit planning, post-graduation and more.

Financial Workshops: These workshops are tailored to the needs of various student groups and populations. Topics include budgeting, loans, credit, apartment hunting, socializing on a budget and more.
