Welcome to UCLA!

As fellow parents of UCLA students –a recent graduate and rising sophomore– we know firsthand how exciting this time in your family’s life can be for everyone. As your new Bruin finishes up high school we are sure you are preparing for your student to embark on the next step in his or her educational journey. What we have learned in our four years as UCLA parents is that this community is a place that we consider home. You will find that your students are not the only ones who grow and learn, parents and family members can gain so much from being involved as well.

This is a special edition of Bruinlink just for you! The Office of Parent & Family Programs recognizes the changing dynamic of the student/parent relationship and wants to make sure you are in the know as well. Bruinlink is an e-newsletter that goes out to all parents of undergraduate students on a quarterly basis. It is a great way to stay connected with the university and offers helpful information and articles on how to resource, engage, or talk to your student on various topics throughout the year.  It’s good to note the office also has a parent helpline and email assistance available for any questions you may have.

Lastly, we want to let you know that as the 2016-17 Co-Chairs of the Parents’ Council, we love being involved in the campus community. We are on campus often volunteering our time to various groups and organizations that can use extra help. Sometimes, we even see our students! Being part of the council has provided us with insights and opportunities we didn’t know were available to us as parents of college students. We hope you consider volunteering as a parent or becoming part of the Parents’ Council. We look forward to seeing you all at Parents’ Weekend, October 21-23.

Go Bruins!
